From Fighter Pilot to Gear Protection Pioneer
Blaine “Rock” Tompkins is no stranger to high-stakes environments. As a fighter pilot with over 3,000 flight hours across both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force, Rock spent years navigating the demanding conditions of aerial combat and military aviation. His extensive experience flying advanced aircraft, including but not limited to the F/A-18 Hornet, F/A-18 SuperHornet and the F-16 exposed him to the critical need for superior protective solutions.
In 2009, while working on the F-35 program, Blaine was introduced to one of the aircraft’s most crucial components: the high-tech $500,000 pilot helmet. This state-of-the-art headgear provided pilots with advanced heads up displays and precision tracking, but its storage solutions were surprisingly inadequate. Traditional quilt-lined bags offered insufficient protection, while bulky hard cases were impractical in a tight cockpit environment. The need for a better solution was clear.
That’s when Blaine asked himself a simple yet game-changing question: Why not use air for protection?
Drawing inspiration from G-Suit and Life Preserving Unit (LPU) I wore every day, but also in the airbag technology in automobiles, he envisioned an inflatable protective case that could provide the shock absorption of a rigid case while remaining lightweight and collapsible for easy transport and storage. The idea took flight, and soon he expanded its application beyond aviation helmets to Rifle Sleeves, Scope covers, Night Vision pouches, and other mission-critical inflatable gear.

SHOTGUN CASE DEVELOPMENT INITIATED
Air Armor Tech, LLC is very pleased to announce the initial development of the Air Armor Tech Shotgun Case (inflatable shotgun case) by its USA manufacturers has begun. Designed to fit shotguns, and non-scoped rifles, this inflatable case is created to protect weapons in extreme environments anywhere on the planet. The same patent pending features and characteristics, Made in America craftsmanship, and MilSpec and Berry Amendment compliant material and components, found in all Air Armor Tech’s product lines will also be found in their shotgun cases. With 3″ of 5psi air bladder completely surrounding the encased weapon, blunt force trauma to your weapon is all but eliminated with this air filled, collapsible case. With a carry handle, protective air bladder, highly water resistant properties, durable 1000 denier material, and weapon system flotation, taking your weapon into perilous environments is worry free. The Air Armor Tech Shotgun Case availability is anticipated in Winter 2017.

The latest Air Armor Tech helmet bag, with its patent pending inflatable bladder system, is in its final prototype state. This inflatable protective device is available as a prototype for customer review and use case evaluation. Based on individual customer desires, Air Armor Tech and its helmet bag manufacturer are ready to produce helmet bags that fully incase your mission critical helmet and associated equipment.
